How to Stop Overthinking and Take Control over Your Life?

June 1, 2018

Stop overthinking and overanalyzing everything. Stop worrying and start having faith that everything is going to work out great. Take control over your life. Your life is in your hands. You are the one in charge. Why wouldn’t you make the rest of your life the best of your life?

Why do we always wait? We wait until we get into a relationship to feel loved and complete. We wait for inspiration to hit us to start creating. We’re waiting for the rain to stop pouring so that we can go to the store and buy what we need. Why do we waste time waiting? Why don’t we reverse the process and take control over our lives?
What is the reason we don’t we take care of ourselves and love ourselves, instead of judging ourselves while waiting for someone else to accept us? Why don’t we start doing things we are passionate about and let the inspiration flow?

We are full of potential. Our lives are meant to be lived to the fullest. We are meant to be happy and at peace with ourselves. We are stuck in ”when-then” mindset. When I accomplish that – then I’ll be happy. But what about now?
How can we enjoy the present moment?
By accepting it. By accepting ourselves and realizing that we are exactly where we are supposed to be. This is just the right moment to do whatever our souls desire.

8 habits that have changed my life

The number of times you said:”Tomorrow/next Monday/next year I’ll start doing what I know is going to make me feel good (exercising, intuitive eating, stop binging on Netflix)” = the exact same number of times you failed (give or take a few)
There’s obviously some pattern that needs to be changed. What I suggest is starting now. If you are lazy to start right now, it’s a good indication that the plan you have is not going to work out. Take control over your life by doing the best for yourself, instead of being too lazy to be the best version of yourself.

If you plan to exercise daily (that’s probably the most common thing people want to implement in their lives, hence why I mostly use that example) you don’t have to sign up in the gym, go hardcore for a week and then burn out and hate yourself and the person you saw on Instagram that inspired you to sign up in the first place. You can get up right now and just stretch for 3 minutes. It’s not much but it is a start. Tomorrow you might want to be active for 10 minutes and build momentum from there. The only thing you have to do today is to start.

I don’t strictly follow the saying ”Every new day is a chance for a new beginning”, but every second is new and it won’t repeat again. If we would only realize how powerful we are and how our lives can change in a few months from the moment we start appreciating it, we wouldn’t waste time waiting. It was Full Moon a few days ago and as I was reading my daily horoscope (just for fun, I swear) it said how this Full Moon is connected to the New Moon that was occurring last December. It made me think about where I was last December and what has happened since. I traveled to 5 countries, met some amazing people, started this blog and heaps of other incredible things have happened.

It blows my mind every time when I look back and think of all the times I was worried about what will happen next and where my life is going. Little did I know that I hold all the power to decide where to go, I just needed to focus on the present moment and take action from there.

Take control over your life.

I encourage you to stop wasting your time waiting. I encourage you to make a decision to take control over your life. Life goes on every second, so go with it. Be one with the life. Decide what you want for yourself, see yourself succeeding and having the best life, and just live it. Yes, it’s that simple. Don’t limit yourself and don’t look 5 years in the future. Think about what you want to accomplish, how do you want to spend your time. And start.

  1. This was so inspirational and I really needed this right now. Even though it’s something I think about everyday, it’s hard unless I’m also reminded by other people, so thank you very much πŸ™‚

  2. I’m such an overthinker and I’ve wasted so much time waiting for the perfect moment, perfect mood, perfect sign from the universe to inspire me to act. But the truth is – there’s no perfect anything. There’s just what we have right now. I love how you summed this all up. Beautiful writing. Definitely what I needed to read this today.

  3. I’m definitely an overthinking. I put everything in my life on hold because of that. I try to live more in the moment, but it’s really hard sometimes. Thanks for this!

    1. You’re welcome πŸ™‚ It is hard in the beginning because we have learned to always focus on the future, but by practicing being mindful about the present moment, it definitely becomes easier and it starts to come more naturally as we go πŸ™‚

  4. Love this! Your statement “every second is new and it won’t repeat again” really struck home with me. I need to slow my life down, like you suggest, and just appreciate what is going on here and now and stop wasting time doing meaningless things. Great post!

  5. I find one of the best ways to end up getting things done is just to start! Once I get over the hill of actually beginning, I often get the urge to keep going, and before you know it, I’ve done the thing I felt like putting off. I’m also a huge fan of just taking little steps… they can add up to momentous change if you just keep it up. Love your thinking!
