Fall-Inspired Self-Care Ideas
I decided to bring fall to whole another level this year. What I mean by that is applying those cozy vibes into my everyday life, not just while having a movie marathon on a Sunday night.
So, in today’s post, I’m sharing with you some of my favorite fall-inspired self-care ideas. From body lotions to turmeric lattes, I’m sure you’ll find something for yourself.
“When you recover or discover something that nourishes your soul and brings joy, care enough about yourself to make room for it in your life.”
— Jean Shinoda Bolen
#1 baking
Lately, I’ve been enjoying making quick and simple cookies. I don’t really spend much time in the kitchen trying out new recipes, and I prefer simple recipes with minimal ingredients.
Staple ingredients I use for baking are bananas, oat flour, flax seeds (instead of eggs) and baking powder. Everything else depends on the mood and what I have in the kitchen.
This fall, I’m adding maca root powder and cacao powder to make healthier options.
Maca powder is rich in vitamin C, copper and iron. Plus, a few studies have shown that it can improve your mood.
And, cacao powder is very rich in antioxidants, iron, calcium, and magnesium. You can easily start making super-food cookies with just a few ingredients. At least that’s what I’m doing this season.
P. S. Don’t forget the toppings. I suggest freeze-dried strawberry slices to add some crunch.
#2 pumpkin pie smoothie
I don’t define fall-inspired self-care ideas as hour-long rituals like bubble baths and spa appointments. Personally, I look at it as finding ways to take care of yourself in your daily life. So, especially on days when you’re running late, I’d suggest making yourself a quick smoothie with some nourishing ingredients.
Currently, I’m using matcha green tea powder and spirulina powder in my smoothies. I also add a tablespoon of cacao powder, just to make sure I don’t taste spirulina. I’ve been using spirulina for a while now, and I just can’t get used to the taste of it.
However, it has a lot of benefits, like its antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects.
For your pumpkin smoothie, blend a banana, pumpkin puree, cinnamon, maple syrup, coconut/almond milk and a teaspoon of some superfood powder. Choose the quantity of these ingredients by your preference, I never follow a strict recipe.
#3 journaling
“Talk to yourself like you would to someone you love.”
— Brené Brown
I can’t talk about self-care without mentioning journaling. Journaling means being there for yourself. Checking in with yourself, your feelings, and your goals. I make sure to dedicate about 10 minutes every day to go through my intentions, some journal prompts that resonate for the day, affirmations, etc.
If you’ve been on your own self-improvement journey and you want to dive deeper, check out my journaling bundle.
The bundle includes 3+ hours of guided journaling workshops for building confidence, creating the next-level version of yourself, reframing your limiting beliefs, and setting goals. #4 movie marathon
Normally, I’d suggest having popcorn or something like that while watching a movie. BUT, I’ve been drinking my body weight in these cacao and coconut and turmeric and ginger lattes. Of course, cacao and coconut one is delicious, as you would expect.
But turmeric and ginger… I tried turmeric latte when I was in Budapest in June, and the taste of turmeric was really intense. I didn’t enjoy it at all. Somehow, I still wanted to try out this one. And, I’m so glad I gave it a chance! Now it’s actually my favorite of these two.
They are vegan and caffeine-free, which I love. I drink at least one big cup of each one every day. I’ve been watching Divorce lately as a part of my night routine and I always have one of these two lattes in hand. It’s like having a dessert.
Usually, you need to add milk or some sweetener to this kind of homemade beverage, but for these, you just add water. They’re definitely my favorite addition this fall.
#5 taking extra care of your body
As a part of my Sunday routine, which is when I (try to) have a day off, I dedicate more time for self-care. This fall, I added a few more things to use.
Azelique age refining face cleanser has immediately become my favorite. It smells amazing and leaves my skin really soft after using it.
I’ve also been enjoying this orange and bergamot body butter. It has a thicker consistency and smells very good.
I got these soap bars to exfoliate and give my skin a much-needed detox. They work great with the body butter I mentioned. And I ran out of my breath refresh spray and got this one which is by far my favorite I ever used. It has a strong peppermint flavor which I love and is alcohol-free which is a plus.
I truly enjoy spending more time taking care of my body with these products.
#6 decluttering your summer wardrobe
“Minimizing can be exhilarating. If you continue decluttering, you just might
find a zest for life that you didn’t know existed under all that stuff!”
―
This is a great way to prepare for colder months. Especially if you decide to dedicate a whole day to self-care, I’d suggest giving yourself an hour for decluttering.
Put some clothes you didn’t wear in a while for sale and make some money out of it. I’m sure you’ll enjoy spending time in your space more when it’s not all messy and filled with things you don’t even use or like anymore.
Making a place you live in more enjoyable is also a way of taking care of yourself, don’t you think? At least in my case, the space around me affects my mind, as well.
#7 making a fall-inspired bucket list
What would you like to do in the next few months? Personally, some of my goals for this fall are taking a weekend trip in November and finishing the NLP Communication course.
Feel free to share some of your goals in the comments. I’d love to see what you’re looking forward to achieving.
#8 reading
“Books are uniquely portable magic.”
―
Since I discovered the Blinkist app and started to read a few non-fiction books a day, I completely forgot about fiction books.
I bought Almost French by Sarah Turnbull in July when I was in Paris and still haven’t finished it. Let’s see if this will keep me accountable to read it by the end of the month…
Curling up in blankets and reading when it’s cold outside is one of the first things that come to mind when I think of relaxing and taking time for ourselves in the most hygge season of all.
#9 doing a 30-day challenge
This is something I’ve been thinking about for a while now. I’m having a dilemma between doing Yoga with Adriene 30-day yoga challenge or MadFit 30-day at-home workouts challenge.
Since it’s getting colder, I believe it’s the perfect time to start one of these challenges to keep ourselves active. I always loved doing yoga, but it’s been a while since the last time I got on my mat, due to all the traveling.
Now that I’m back home, I can’t think of a better time to get to it again.
#10 switching up your routine
What are some fall-inspired self-care things you love to do? Make a list and find ways to incorporate some of them into your daily routines.
Maybe you’d like to meditate in the morning. Schedule a 5-minute guided meditation before you start ticking off your to-do’s. Don’t check social media first thing in the morning if scrolling through your feed doesn’t motivate you. Cut your to-do list in half.
Basically, do more of the things you enjoy.
What’s your favorite way to enjoy the fall season? Let me know in the comments!

These are great fall-inspired self care ideas! Baking is my absolute favorite in the fall, followed by watching fall movies. I also really enjoy long walks, which are harder to enjoy in our 90+ degree summers.

Love these ideas! Especially the one about incorporating things you love into your daily routine. It’s such a nice way to make every day a little bit better. 🙂
I just have one question about iHerb: since you’re in Europe as well, have you ever had to pay customs for your order? I almost ordered from them last week but then decided not to risk it…
Ivana says
Glad you liked it, Karina! 🙂
You have to pay customs, yes. A few months ago there was only shipping to pay for so I guess this is new…

Thanks for the ideas! I’m actually decluttering me and my kids summer wardrobe today. I bought a bin for it and everything lol. It’s one of those things that will drive me crazy if I don’t go ahead and get it done. I also picked up journaling again – it definitely keeps my emotions in check 🙂
Ivana says
I see you prepared well for the process 🙂 It’s great that you decided to get it done!
Same here, journaling has so many benefits 🙂
