Is there a place for manifestation in Human Design? What’s the main difference between manifestation, the Law of Attraction principles, and the Human Design system? What about specific and non-specific manifestation and Human Design? Where does that even come from?
In today’s post, I’ll talk about manifestation and Human Design. First, I’ll separate what’s manifestation and what’s Human Design. Then we’ll get into specific and non-specific manifestation or focused and peripheral view. Let’s dive in.
1) the difference between manifestation and Human Design
Manifestation and the Law of Attraction starts in your mind. There’s this popular quote that says ”Ask and you shall receive.” It immediately puts us in our mind asking ourselves, well – what do I want to ask for? What do I want to manifest?
Sure, later it encourages us to align our energy with our desire. But initially, we take the desire that our mind tells us we should want.
However, we forget that we might be easily influenced and that we might be setting goals that are not even ours.
In my experience, when I got certified as a life coach, I saw what the lives of successful coaches looked like and I started defining success according to what I saw online.
How often do you define love and successful relationship based on what’s familiar to you?
How often do you create a timeline for yourself not based on what feels good but based on what’s expected of you?
One of my favorite things about Human Design is that it shows you areas of your life where you can get easily influenced.
You can look at your undefined centers to show you areas of your life where you can get off track, take in from others, and become easily influenced.
For example, if you have an undefined head center, you’re someone who is easily inspired. So do you actually want to achieve a certain goal or are you just inspired in the moment from what you’ve seen online?
If you have an undefined G center, you might be influenced by others when it comes to the direction of your life and your identity.
Personally, I used to attach myself to the identity of a coach. I stayed in that identity even though it didn’t feel authentic, but I liked what it looked like on the outside. I liked being perceived by others as a coach. I liked the label.
Or if you have an undefined ego center, there might be a tendency to prove your self-worth. I used to set goals and manifestations to attract 5 or even 20 high-paying clients. It wasn’t about the clients. It was that having multiple high-paying clients would help me prove to myself and to others that I was successful and good at what I was doing.
That’s the not-self of your undefined centers and how it gets in the way of you focusing on what actually feels good.

2) Specific and Non-Specific Manifestation in Human Design conversations or Independent Personality Variable
Human Design language is confusing at first. What does it mean to have a 2/4 profile? What does it mean to have a self-projected authority? What’s authority? Channels? Gates? It’s not really self-explanatory.
I can see that with the goal to make it more understandable, some people changed the terminology.
Originally, the ”specific and non-specific manifestation” is called focused and peripheral view in Human Design. It has nothing to do with manifestation and the Law of Attraction.
So what is it if not specific and non-specific manifestation? It’s independent personality variable.
When you look at your Human Design bodygraph, you’ll see four arrows around your head center. Those arrows are called variables.
Bottom arrow on the right (on the black, personality side) tells you how you’re designed to see the world. It tells you about your perspective. It’s how you’re meant to notice things when you’re in your ideal environment. That lower right arrow is called independent personality variable.
When your independent personality variable is pointed to the right, it means you have a peripheral view.
When it’s pointed to the left, it means you have a focused view.
3) Peripheral View in Human Design
When you have a peripheral view in Human Design, you can see things more clearly when you look at the bigger picture. It can come more naturally to you to take a step back instead of zooming in on the details.
Some people will call this ”non-specific manifestation” because it can be easier for you to know the overall feeling or vibe you want from something rather than saying ”I want my ideal partner to have brown hair, blue eyes, etc.”
I have peripheral view in Human Design and I was always struggling with focused visualizations and scripting practices in the Law of Attraction world. I would always think to myself how I don’t care how my day goes hour to hour. I just know how I want to feel overall. I know the bigger picture. Whenever I would try to fill in the details, I would end up feeling frustrated and like I was going against myself. Going against what feels natural.
When you let go of the need to fill in the details, they will fill themselves in a better way than you could’ve imagined or scripted.
4) Focused View in Human Design
With a focused view, you naturally have a more detailed way of seeing the world. You might feel the need for structure and focusing on details.
Some people will call this ”specific manifestation” because it can be easier for you to make a list of requirements if, for example, you’re looking for a virtual assistant to hire. Rather than keeping it broad and trusting you’ll know if they’re right when the time comes. It’s clearer for you when you’re more specific and focus on details.
