Spleen center in Human Design is the triangle on the left side of your bodygraph (the one with gates 18, 28, etc.) It’s an awareness center for survival. It focuses on intuition, immune system, time, our environment, feeling good, and keeping us alive in the now.
Spleen center has a subtle energy. It’s the quietest and oldest form of awareness. It’s a spontaneous judgment of what’s correct.
If this center is white in your chart, it means you have an undefined Spleen center (or open if you have no gates activated). If it’s colored in, it means you have it defined.
45% of the entire population has this center undefined/open.
In Human Design, nothing is better or worse. Having a center defined is not better than having it undefined, or vice versa. It’s just a different expression and experience.
Challenges and the potential not-self of an undefined Spleen center in Human Design
With an undefined Spleen center, there’s the potential challenge of not knowing how to let go of things that aren’t good for you.
You might hold onto things/people/places/jobs/commitments for too long or hold onto things that are no longer healthy for you.
There can be a challenge of not knowing when things are completed or finished. Or you realize you’re done with something but instead of leaving, you get even more into it. You hold onto it for too long and focus on staying safe and avoiding potential pain.
With an open Spleen center, there can be a tendency of always looking for security.
Whatever you have undefined in your chart, you can get addicted to it because the energy of it is inconsistent and your mind can perceive it as you’re lacking something. That’s why there’s a potential for addiction to fear. This can look like watching the news 24/7, catastrophizing ‘what if’ worst-case scenarios, or even choosing movies that give you a feeling of fear and keep you asking what’s going to happen next.
Learn to check in with yourself and ask yourself:
Is this fear mine or someone else’s?
Am I observing or absorbing?
Am I absorbing other people’s fears and panic?
From there, don’t identify with other people’s fears. Build a solid relationship with moving through fear.
The way your intuition comes and expresses itself can change based on who you’re around
With an undefined Spleen center, it’s not that you don’t have intuition, you’re not lacking anything. It’s just that the way it is expressed changes.
Depending on what gates you have activated in your Spleen center, you can experience fear of inadequacy, failure, future, responsibility…

Gifts and the healthy expression of an undefined Spleen center in Human Design
In your healthy expression of your open Spleen center, you can sense when someone isn’t good for you and remove yourself from people who don’t feel good instead of holding onto them for a sense of security and stability.
In your healthy expression, you don’t avoid your fears. You learn how to handle them so that they’re not holding you back and so that you don’t become insecure and afraid of everything.
You become highly intuitive because, in your healthy expression, you can separate what’s your energy and what’s someone else’s. In your wisdom, you can separate what’s your fear and what’s someone else’s.

Questions for reflection
What do you need to let go of? (certain people, places, physical items, jobs, commitments…)
What do you need to release? (fears that are not serving you)
What are you avoiding out of fear?
Is this fear valid (is there actual danger) or is it just a self-created block preventing you from moving forward (fear of failure, responsibility, the past repeating itself, future, inadequacy…)?
Until the next time,
Ivana
